Botlierskop Activities

Enjoy an exciting horseback safari and escape to the majestic mountain valleys and beautiful fynbos for a 1, 2 or 3 hour horse ride and experience nature like never before. Explore our diverse plant life including woodlands, coastal and mountain fynbos and spot free roaming wildlife (cannot be guaranteed). All experience levels welcome (child 7+).

Horseback ride non experience rider – 1 hour or 2 hour rides

• What to Bring: When bringing a camera please make sure you have a fanny pack, or belt bag, moon bag or belly bag as you will use both hands to ride.
• What to Wear: Long pants and closed shoes.
• Skills: No skills required for a no experience ride

Horseback ride for experienced riders 1 hour, 2 hours or 3 hour rides

Guided horseback safari for for riders with good experience and that rides at least a few times a month.

Please arrive 30 min prior to your activity departure times at reception to complete indemnity and to be taken to Stables for saddling ect. If you are late you will forfeit your activity and full cancellation will be charged

• Skills Required: Good Experience with horse riding are a requirement as you will ride with other experience riders.

Horseback Outride (experience riders only) - 3.5 hours

The 3.5 hour outrides are adventures and are rarely on marked roads but through thick bushes and over mountainous terrain at working speed which makes these rides ideal for game viewing on horseback. Snacks and water is included during the 30 min stop in the reserve. Upgrade your package and end off with breakfast, lunch or dinner as optional extra. Please inform reservations if you which to add on.

By participating in and contributing towards these specific projects, you are providing critical resources and assistance. Spearheaded by AWCF (AFRICAN WILDLIFE CONSERVATION FOUNDATION) , these projects aim to be expanded throughout Africa. 

Veterinary Safari Elephants (3-4h)

Most of these procedures involve darting the animal/s with a specially-formulated anesthetic by our wildlife vet. Once the animal is immobilized and secure, you’ll go to work, assisting the vet to perform the required procedure. These management interventions and research procedures may be required to perform vital conservation tasks. Procedure includes • Performing contraception implants • General health inspections • Blood sampling for scientific research

Veterinary Safari Lion (3-4h)

Most of these procedures involve darting the animal/s with a specially-formulated anesthetic by our wildlife vet. Once the animal is immobilized and secure, you’ll go to work, assisting the vet to perform the required procedure. These management interventions and research procedures may be required to perform vital conservation tasks.

Procedure includes • Replacing or attaching satellite collars • Performing contraceptive implants • Biological sampling for scientific research, especially to establish M. bovis baseline values • Collecting DNA for research to ensure genetic biodiversity is maintained in a specific area

Veterinary Safari Rhino (3-4h)

Most of these procedures involve darting the animal/s with a specially-formulated anesthetic by our wildlife vet. Once the animal is immobilized and secure, you’ll go to work, assisting the vet to perform the required procedure. These management interventions and research procedures may be required to perform vital conservation tasks. Procedure includes: • Implanting microchips into horns for anti-poaching measures • Cosmetic dehorning to reduce poaching risks • Biological sampling for DNA identification • Blood sampling for research purposes, specifically transmission of strategic diseases.

Private Game Drive up to 10 guests (3h) 

Lockdown 4x4 Private Guided Game Drive (3 hours). Day visitors can book Private Land Cruiser, seats up 8 guests maximum. No minimum number of guests are required as we charge per vehicle and not per person. Larger vehicle available. Request quote. Kindly note guest to bring their own masks, blankets and warm jackets as we fight the spread of Covid 19. Vehicles are sanitized before each departure with one guide allocated to one vehicle only. Hand sanitizer also available from our guide on arrival. Safe and enjoyable activity for the family.

• Inclusions: Private vehicle for up to 8 guests maximum with your private field guide and flexible departure times with prior arrangements
• Exclusions: No snacks and drinks included due to a standard precautions to prevent the spread of COVID 19. You can bring your own soft drinks (no alcohol please) till further notice.
• Bring: Camera and Mask (ask is a requirement by government)
• What to Wear: Warm jacket and closed shoes and a knee blanket for warmth are advised. We do not supply due to a standard precautions to prevent the spread of COVID 19
• Pick up and drop off: at the Day Safari and Leisure Centre

Private Game Drive up to 9 Guests 3.5h (All Ages) incl Snacks & Drinks

4x4 Sundowner Guided Safari Game Drive duration is 3.5 hours including a snacks and drinks stop in the reserve in a Private 9 seater land cruiser with your own private guide. Please arrive 30 min prior to the departure time. Summer departure times:15:00-18:30 and Winter departure times 14:30-18:00. All ages welcome - amend your departure time on request.

Spa - Day Visitors Only (1h massage, picnic & 3h Game drive ) 

Inclusions:

• Guided Game drive (3 hours)
• 1 hour massage spa treatment
• The spa includes complimentary glass of sparkling wine and the use of the indoor heated pool.
• Sumptuous picnic basket with a bottle of wine of your choice to be enjoyed at either the outdoor spa pool deck or at a picnic.

Kindly note that all day visitor activities need to be booked in advance. Guests who book any day activities will receive a free pass for the day to the leisure area. Guests can bring their own towels or rent towels from reception.
