Lapalala Wilderness Reserve

Lapalala Wilderness Reserve

Limpopo, South Africa

The Lapalala Wilderness, in the Limpopo Province, is an exceptionally diverse 48 000ha reserve within the mountainous Waterberg region. Just 3.5 hours' drive from Johannesburg, the Lapalala Wilderness Reserve was founded in 1981 by conservation leaders. It has established a legacy of nature preservation that has lead to many bird and animal species becoming naturally attracted to the area, including the Big 5.
