Aquila Private Game Reserve and Spa is named after the rare endangered resident Black Eagle and boasts a breatakingly beautiful +- 10 000 hectare Karoo conservancy.

Visitors can enjoy a game drive experience amongst lions and other members of the majestic Big 5 (as well as an enormous variety of safari wildlife), where these magnificent creatures roam the Karoo mountains, valleys, rivers and kloofs.

The Reserve is set in the Cape’s malaria-free famous Fynbos, succulent Karoo and extremely rare Renosterveld vegetation.

Overview

4 Star accommodation is available in Cottages and Lodge rooms. Aquila sleeps a total of 182 guests sharing and 81 single occupancy. All units feature tea and coffee making facilities, safes, air conditioners, fridges. Guest amenities include shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap & robes.

Karoo Cottages

Each has its own patio, corner bath and outdoor rock shower. Cottages are equipped with mini bars (on request), fans and feature fireplace for that extra bit of warmth and cosiness in the colder months.

Family Luxury Cottages

These cottages are semi-detached with attention paid to privacy. They feature indoor fireplaces for that extra bit of warmth and cosiness in the colder months.
4 Sleeper and 8 Sleeper

Premier Cottages (King and Twin)

Cottages are situated on the hillside to offer privacy. Each en-suite bathroom is unique, with twin hand basins, bath and toilet, and panoramic views across the reserve.

Premier Lodge Rooms

Premier Lodge Rooms have large balconies overlooking the reserve. Full bathrooms with separate showers and views from the baths. 2 x twins beds which can be made up to queen size beds Mountain Suites.

Standard Lodge Rooms & Family Lodge Rooms

Standard Rooms have twin beds which can be made up to queen size beds, they look away from the reserve and have a shower en suite.
Our Mountain View and Standard Lodge Rooms can be converted to Luxury Family Suites. The interconnect by a common passage way. The entrance to the passageway may be locked as can both bedrooms forming a private and safe space for families.

Aquila Infinity Pool

The swimming pool has a length of 35 meters, and features a rim flow as well as ample decking for lounging in the African sun.

Pool Bar

Situated adjacent to the swimming pool and restaurant, seats approximately 20 guests while enjoying the convenience of the pool area and includes a “wet bar”.

Curio Shop

Offers various African souvenirs for sale, as well as locally manufactured items and Aquila branded apparel.

Aquila Kids Club

Aquila offers a safari themed indoor and outdoor children’s play area, with a variety of activities aimed at toddlers to pre-teens. The outside area has a mini-golf course, giant chess, a sandpit and a wooden jungle gym to delight your little ones. Offering daily activities and Junior Ranger program. Baby sitting facilities are available at an extra charge.

Tanquila Spa

An African spa using natural products. Featuring 1 outdoor pool, 2 indoor pools (1 heated the other cold), Steam Room, Sauna, 10 Treatment rooms.

Conference Centre

The main inside area of the conference room is 125m2 (25m x 5m) with a thatch circular outside boma area of 36m2. There are 2 Breakaway Rooms.

Prayer Room

The Salah prayer room is equipped with basin and water-friendly services, prayer matts, the Quran, and seating for the elderly.

Overnight safari packages include a morning and afternoon safari.

Aquila Children's Entertainment Area

Aquila offers an indoor and outdoor children’s play area, with a variety of activities aimed at toddlers to pre-teens. The outside area has a mini-golf course, a sandpit and a wooden playground to delight your little ones. Offering daily activities and Junior Ranger program. The Children’s area is open from 8am to 9pm daily.

Additonal Activities (can be booked at an additional cost, it is advisable to pre-book):

Horse-back Safari: Minimum age requirement is 16 years old. Duration: 1 ½ hours (Aprox)
Quad Bike Safari: Minimum age requirement is 16 years old. Maximum of 10 people per safari. Duration: 1 ½ hours (Aprox)
Star Safari: Each evening (weather conditions permitting) after dinner we invite you to join us at the Boma for marshmallow roasting and to view the stellar sights of the Karoo skies!
Eco Synergy Tours: Learn more about how we recycle using Aquaponics, Hydroponics, and organic gardening.
Junior Ranger Program: Departs daily after breakfast with a minimum of 4 pax and is open to children of all ages. Children under the age of 6 will be catered for in the Aquila Kids Club and children over 6 (and adults) will be taken on a game drive and lessons in animal identification will be given using spoor and animal droppings.
