Rhino River Lodge is a relaxed Big 5 safari lodge with a reputation for warm hospitality and world-class wildlife viewing opportunities. Situated in the Manyoni Private Game Reserve in northern KwaZulu-Natal, the lodge offers twice daily game drives guided by highly qualified and knowledgeable rangers, including a morning coffee stop and afternoon sundowners. The family friendly accommodation options range from traditional to modern, including 2 private safari homes each boasting their own private pool.

Manyoni Game Reserve

Overview

Family Chalet:

Lounge, kitchen and 2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom with shower & bath tub, outside deck. Each cabin has 1 bedroom on the upstairs mezanine floor with a king bed and 1 downstairs bedroom with 2 single beds.

Double Ensuite Room:

Luxury double ensuite room with private entrance and verandah, tea and coffee making facilities as well as a mini bar.

Homestead:

Luxurious private house with plunge pool and outdoor shower. Availability is limited and this room is not always open for booking.

Cottage:

2 Bedroomed Cottage, both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Indoor lounge and dining area, leading off the lounge area is a private plunge pool sunken into the outside viewing deck.

The lodge grounds sprawl through an area of thick riverine vegetation, rich with bird and animal life, and filled with magnificent fig and fever trees.

Hearty meals highlighting fresh and local ingredients are enjoyed in an open-air dining area during the day, and around a campfire under the stars at night. Romantic private boma dinners can also be arranged for those celebrating a special occasion or just wanting a more intimate dining experience. The relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and spectacular surroundings affords guests the opportunity to experience Zululand at its best.

While on safari at Rhino River Lodge you will have the opportunity to see Lions, Rhinos, Elephants, Cheetahs, Wild Dogs and much more as you are guided through the Big 5 Manyoni Private Game Reserve by one of our knowledgeable game rangers.

Included in your stay:

A morning game drive which is about three hours long.
A afternoon game drive which begins about two and a half hours before sunset. The drive will continue on for a short while after the sun sets, in search of the more rarely observed nocturnal animals.

The morning game drive is about three hours long with a midway coffee break where guests can stretch their legs, have a hot beverage and snack on home-made goodies, like our famous cookies and rusks.

Upon returning to camp join us for a full English-style breakfast served to order. After breakfast the day is yours to relax, either at our lodge pool, our lounge, or in the comfort of your room. At approximately 1:30 a light lunch is served.

The afternoon game drive begins about two and a half hours before sunset. Your ranger will take you on another exciting drive through Manyoni Private Game Reserve. Just before sunset the vehicle will stop for a special safari tradition, the sundowner. The drive will continue on for a short while after the sun sets, in search of the more rarely observed nocturnal animals.

A hearty three-course dinner is served shortly after arrival back at camp where you will be seated, weather-permitting, under the stars around the campfire. After dinner guests are welcome to join us around the campfire for stargazing and a night cap or head off to bed to get a good night’s sleep for the early wake up for the next morning's game drive.

A morning and afternoon game drive on one of our open safari vehicles led by a game ranger

Children

Ages 4-12 stay at 50%, children younger than 4 stay for free. Children under 4 may not participate on game drives.

Please note that Rhino River Lodge will be gathering conservation levies on behalf of Manyoni Private Game Reserve to contribute towards valuable conservation programmes in the reserve.

Current conservation levies:

2021: R175 per adult per night & R95 per child under 12 years per night
