The Tshukudu Suite meaning Rhino in Setswana is a 1 bedroom luxury suite that offers luxury and extreme comfort and is distinctively adorned with unique African art, rich fabrics and warm tones.

Nare luxury suite is an intimate space that can host two guests. The suite has a fully equipped modern kitchen, dining room and lounge area.

Madikwe has the most beautiful Winter skies and whether from your villa patio, the lodge entertainment deck or on a night drive, our knowledgeable rangers can point out astronomical delights!

Served just before your afternoon game drive, choose from a delicious array of sweet and savoury dishes baked daily for high tea. Juices and iced teas are available as well and in summer, our homemade iced coffees are a winner! The perfect treat to fill you up before your afternoon drive.

Photographic Safaris
Our photographic safaris are carefully planned according to the photographer's specific interests, from all levels of expertise, who want to capture their once-in-a-lifetime images.
To run these specialised safaris, we call on experienced guides who are both incredibly knowledgeable about the birds, animals and bush and accomplished photographers themselves.
Build your own Pizza in the bush
We have a really great pizza oven and our guests love the idea of a pizza evening on our deck, in the middle of the wild African bush! Choose from a variety of toppings and have your pizza made and cooked in front of you.
Bird watching
ou will hear and see an abundance of birdlife around your villa, on game drives and in our underground hide. Over 350 bird species have already been spotted in Madikwe! It really is a bird lover's paradise and offers the opportunity to tick off some rare and unusual birds from your list!
Kids Bumble
Kids Bumble drives are designed especially for your little bush adventurers. They are offered to our younger children, from about 6 and under. The drives leave the lodge after breakfast and are a little shorter than the normal drives.
The Game
We offer 2 game drives a day. The game drives are conducted by experienced game rangers.
Madikwe is located in the transition zone between the wet eastern and dry western side of South Africa . This is unique in that Springbok and Impala can be viewed in the same reserve as well as the Brown and Spotted hyena.
Other game to be on the lookout for is lion, cheetah and leopard. The white and black rhino can be spotted in Madikwe as well as the African hunting dog or more commonly known as Wild Dog.
The Hide
RockFig Lodge has a unique ground level hide overlooking a 20 000 litre watering hole. The hide is visited by a range of wildlife from the smallest klipspringer to the largest of elephants. The low angle of the hide gives photographers the ideal position for take unique wildlife shots.
The hide gives you the opportunity to watch wildlife from ground level, with the animals unaware that you are there. The hide is exclusively available to guests at RockFig Lodge at all times.
The Deck
A range of wildlife visit this water hole on a regular basis. It is well illuminated by a flood light for night time viewing.
The deck is furnished with comfortable easy chairs and couches for a picture perfect sunset.
The Cliff
A perfect spot to watch the sunset over the magnificent Madikwe plains, punctuated by several inselbergs which are unique “island-mountains”.
Complete the picture with a glass of Chardonnay or a Gin and Tonic and a tray of delicious snacks!
Rock Fig is a privately owned safari lodge which is situated in the Western sector of Madikwe Game Reserve.

By Road From: Johannesburg & Pretoria Follow the N1 North to Pretoria from Pretoria N1 take the N4 Highway to Rustenburg. Keep to the N4 which bypasses Rustenburg and head for Swartruggens. There is a R75.00 toll gate at Swartruggens.
From Swartruggens, continue on to Zeerust. Please ignore all signs to Madikwe before Zeerust and enter the town itself. On entering the town of Zeerust, we advise that you fill your vehicle with either petrol/diesel. There is one other gas station after this point, approximately 20 minutes drive from the lodge. At the 4 th intersection into the town of Zeerust there is a sign indicating the R49/R47 to GABORONE to the right. Take this right turn. Travel approximately 90km along this road towards Gaborone and then look for the WONDERBOOM GATE into the Madikwe Game Reserve on your right.
Wonderboom Gate is the second gate on this road. (Do not turn into the first gate which is the Abajaterskop Gate.) The gate guard will radio the lodge to notify them of your arrival. From Wonderboom gate head east until the lodges sign. Turn right at the sign in a southerly direction. Continue on the road until you get to the next lodges sign and turn left. Continue straight until you see the Rock Fig sign.
The drive from Johanesburg is about 5 hours.
